Too Cool for School

Joey and I were home with a fever, cough and congestion today (him - I just have the congestion), but at least we got to enjoy some of the beautiful weather. And I have him convinced he needs to put the hat on to go outside. Genius.

Is It Bedtime Already?

When Joey is tired, he's tired. He doesn't cry or complain, but he'll find whatever afghan is nearest and lay his head down on it. One night this weekend, I noticed him leaning over onto the couch, right where the afghan was. So I threw the afghan on the floor, and guess who lay right down on it. I covered him up, and I think he would've gone to sleep right there if we let him. Needless to say, we know what we're bringing with us when we go camping to keep Joey in the tent.

First Egg Hunt

Today was the Egg Hunt at daycare. I think Joey had fun. Actually, I know he had fun playing in the water table. Everything got wet. It took some time for Joey to get the idea of picking up the eggs, but then he did a pretty good job.

Reaching for the eggs in the back of a plastic dump truck.
Picking one up off the ground.
Mugging for the camera.
Trying to climb into the back of the dump truck. This took a few tries, but I think next time he goes out there with his class, he'll have no problem.

Good Night My Angel

This is how we go to sleep every night. Cuddling with our afghans, our butt in the air. Too cute.

Walking!!

Newsflash Update

Unfortunately, the weather men were not lying when they said it was going to snow. It is less than 24 hours after I took that shot of my crocuses, and at least two inches of snow have fallen. (Since it's been so warm, it's not all sticking, but the grass is covered with at least an inch.) So off to the mall we went.

Fun with the big wheel.

And climbing on Road Runner.

And just before our walk. Seriously, this picture is from today. At least a 30 degree drop since yesterday. Here's hoping we're not all sick tomorrow.

Spring has Sprung!

Like much of the rest of the country, we've experienced a wonderful early spring here in Chicago. And since they're calling for snow already this weekend, we thought we'd take advantage while we could. I'm sorry I haven't posted any pictures before now, but we'd head out for our walk and the park, and then we'd both realize we didn't have the camera or even our phones. I made it my mission Friday to take the camera, and I think I managed to capture just how much Joey loves the slide.

Already at the bottom with Mommy. This was a good run.

At the top with Daddy. You can see the excitement building already.

Even Daddy is pumping his fist over their excellent adventure.

While we were at the park, you could feel the weather changing. It must have dropped at least 10 degrees in the 15 minutes we were there. Needless to say, I thought Joey would enjoy some hot chocolate when we got back. (His first!) He did like it, but he wanted his nice cold milk even more. Fortunately it looks like the little guy has not adopted all of Mommy and Daddy's bad habits.

Sunglasses at Night

Or dusk, as the case may be. These lasted longer than we expected, but not quite as long as we hoped. He still looked cool.

My Own Wonder Pet

Not too long ago, Joey loved to walk around with the cloth diaper on his head. (Don't worry, it was always clean!) The past few days, he kept putting the diaper on his head, but then he'd keep pulling it around, down his back, and then get frustrated and just about cry. I couldn't figure out what he was trying to do. Then on Sunday, when he was being especially fussy while playing with the diaper, I asked him if he wanted to watch the Wonder Pets. He nodded yes with his whole body. Then it hit me!

Joey wanted to be a Wonder Pet! I promptly put the diaper on him like a cape, and he was happier than a pig in mud.

He even grabbed the baseball hat and tried to put in on like Linny.

My own Wonder Pet, off to save the day!

Fun with the Schulers

We went to our friends' house for brunch today, and Joey had a ton of fun playing with his friends. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

Toothbrush and Dancing

We were having a little fun in the bathroom last night, which isn't nearly as bad as it sounds.

We bought Joey a toothbrush a little while back, but haven't really used it much. I gave it to him on Saturday, and now he actually goes into the bathroom looking for it. I don't know that we're doing much brushing, but at least he's getting used to the idea of using it.

We also had a ton of fun turning the radio off.

And even more fun when Mommy would turn it back on. If you're curious, feel free to check out the video.

Can We Take the Dog for a Walk?

This kid is too smart for his own good. I mean, it was raining, and a little chilly, but what did he insist on doing?

Yep, the dog has him trained now. He wanted to go for a walk. He grabs her leash and then walks to the door and just gives me those eyes.

"But I really want to go for a walk with the dog!" (And if you look closely over Joey's left shoulder, you can see the dog looking in from outside, hoping Mommy will cave in.)

"I'll even hold the leash myself. Look! I know how to do it!" I'm not sure which he likes more, going for the walk or giving Ginny her treat when we get back.

Garage Door

When we got home today, Joey couldn't wait to get into the garage. I couldn't figure it out. He walked right over to the door and kept trying to turn the handle and open it. We went back into the house, and I showed him how the opener works. I then put him down in the middle of the garage, and he let me know exactly what he wanted ... the stroller! Little bugger knows we keep it in the garage, and wanted to go for a walk. Hopefully the weather holds out tomorrow and we can take him for a nice long ride in what has become his favorite toy.

Spaghetti!

Joey was using his spoon so well tonight to eat his spaghetti. Until Mommy got the camera out. Then it was back to his usual tricks.

A Man of Many Talents

Joey's keeping his options open regarding what he wants to be when he grows up.

Construction foreman ...

Musician ...

or cousin Jason's favorite, stunt man!

Tea Time

When Nana and Pop-Pop came to visit, they got to spend all day Monday with Joey. That afternoon, when I got home from work, Joey had improvised a tea party. Or maybe it was coffee talk. No matter what, Joey was happily pouring drinks for everyone.

What can I get you, Daddy?

Coming right up!

Delicious!

Counting His Pennies

I'm trying to teach Joey early that it's important to save for the future.

And from the looks of it, he loves not only saving, but taking it back out of the bank at the end!

I Love My Pop-Pop!

Crazy Hair

I'm trying to catch up on some blogging ... here are some cute pictures of Joey to start.
