Thomas the Tank Engine

Last weekend, we headed to the Illinois Railway Museum for their Day Out with Thomas event. We met up with some friends and had a great time.
Joey got to meet Sir Topham Hatt.
And there was a real Thomas engine! (OK, so the real engine was in the back of the train, but it looked real enough.)
We had lots of fun with our friends.
Even mommy and Jacob explored some of the old railcars.
More evidence that Jacob was there. (I put him in the carrier after his feeding, and he slept for three hours. Not even the train whistles could wake him up.)
This picture is from our actual ride on the passengers cars pulled by Thomas. We were sitting near the back, so in this shot, the Thomas engine is turning the corner, and Joey sees for the first time that Thomas is "pulling" the train. He saw Thomas in the front of the train before we got on, but here he's actually seeing him in action.
He was so excited!

Tractor Fun

We finally have gotten rain on a somewhat consistent basis, so it was time to cut the grass again this weekend. As usual, Joey couldn't wait to help.
Getting ready to help, wearing his headphones, just like Daddy.
How fast can we go?
Helping Daddy clean the tractor.
Obligatory "please look at the camera and you'll get a treat" shot.

Playing with the Wolf

Danielle, John and Wolfie came to visit us this weekend. Shenanigans abounded. (Check out Dani's blog for more pics.) Jacob slept most of the time, so there are really only pics of these two. Soon enough we'll get to try to take pics with all four boys - hopefully the babies learn to cooperate!

My Little Monkey

Thanks, Aunt Rachel/Shae for the Timberlands. Apparently they make the most excellent climbing shoes.

Floor Time

Joey joined Jacob on the floor gym this past Saturday morning, and I think they both had a great time.
It's gotten to the point now that if I'm taking pictures of Jacob, Joey will say, "Mommy, take a picture of ME and my Awesome." (Yes, he calls Jacob "Awesome." It's kind of cute.) Fortunately, that's about the extent of the jealousy so far. And since I always oblige and take pictures of the two of them, Joey doesn't seem to mind.

Time Flies

Believe it or not, Jacob is two months old already. We went in for our check-ups, and he's doing well. He's up to twelve pounds seven ounces and 23 3/4 inches.
I thought I'd steal a little something my sister did with her daughter, and I'm using Joey's sock monkey for scale. (And yes, I mean Joey's - Jacob doesn't have one of his own yet.) I'll post a picture at least through six months with the monkey, so you can see how big he's grown.
In the meantime, guess who had to crawl up in the chair with his "Awesome" while Mommy was taking pictures.

So Happy Together

Great-Grands

We visited with Joey and Jacob's great-grandparents this past Sunday. Grandma just lit up when she saw Jacob, and we barely got him out of the carseat before she grabbed him from us so she could hold them.
Getting to know each other a little better.
Of course there were also some hijinks. Grandpa loves his hats, and Joey happily obliged by putting on at least two at a time.

Catching Some Air

At our friend's third birthday party, they had a bounce house. Joey wanted absolutely nothing to do with it. Wouldn't go anywhere near it, especially with all the other kids in there. There was a small window later in the afternoon, when it was practically empty. I had to literally carry him into the bounce house, and stay there myself to convince him to try it out. Once he got the hang of it, he didn't want to get out.

The next day, the families got together again for a little Sunday brunch. At least one parent of each kid went to St. Ignatius. Family names from left to right - Offutt, Olech, Offutt, Olech holding a Stupka (Jawidzik) and Burger holding a Burger. We've already got a co-ed hockey team with a two-deep bench. When you add the other four Ignatius kids that live in Chicagoland, we can field a full soccer team. Craziness.
