A Day at the Zoo

"The man with the yellow hat is taking George to the zoo today. There are so many things to do and touch and feel."

We read Curious George Goes to the Zoo almost every night, so I figured it was time to get Joey back to the zoo. We met up with a few friends when we got there, and had a ton of fun. You can't see them, but there are deer on the other side of the fence.Joey was so excited to keep moving and see new animals. The zebras are coming up! The kids loved playing musical chairs with the strollers. Kennedy and Kristopher were excited to get a chance to ride alone, and Joey loved having a friend next to him. It was almost 95 degrees on Sunday, so it was important to stay hydrated!Boys will be boys, and sometimes they're monkeys, too, trying to climb over the fences. If you look closely, I think you can see a giraffe in the background. (Completely on accident, of course.)

Fun and Run

Sunday morning, Joey and I met up with some friends in Lincoln Park for the WTTW Fun and Run. The idea was great - walk around the park with other parents while the kids get to meet their favorite characters from PBS. What they failed to mention, though, is unlike at Disney, where there are numerous opportunities to meet the characters, here, all the characters were at designated locations, there was only one of each, and the lines were ridiculous. Somehow, though, we still managed to have fun.
Joey loves to hold hands, as long as those hands belong to other kids and not Mommy or Daddy. Here he is with Kennedy.
Meeting Grover, who he affectionately called "Elmo!!"
On the way home, cuddling with his new Tickle Elmo Baby (or something).
Completely wiped out from a fun day at the park.

Mr. Bubbles

Joey absolutely loves bath time. Definitely more so when Daddy draws the bath, as Daddy uses way more bubbles than Mommy does.

Here he is making sure his bum is clean. (He's had a fascination with his bum for at least the last two weeks. Always cleaning it in the tub, wanting to put lotion on it before we put on our pj's. It's quite amusing.)
"Look, Mom! There are bubbles all over my hands! And now I'm going to put them in my hair!"
Such a cutie.

Poopie Patrol

Apparently, Joey loves to imitate Mommy and Daddy. Right down to cleaning up poop. And before you get too worried, no, I didn't actually let him pick up any.
He was playing in the kitchen and managed to get the poop bags from the countertop. Then when we went outside, he wanted to clean up after Ginny!
Here he is saying, "eww" and "yucky." At least he knows not to play with it.

Sushi Station

We took Joey out for sushi last night. And believe it or not, he actually ate something! OK, so it was more of a breaded sweet and sour shrimp, but he loved it! And as far as we can tell, no shell fish allergies.
He's waving bye-bye to the little boats as they go around the bar carrying the sushi to all the hungry customers.

Twisty Straw and Dip

We went out for dinner last night to try to beat the incredible heat wave that's been plaguing Chicago. Joey had a ton of fun with his twisty straw and dipping his fries into both ketcup and sweet and sour sauce.
